RaceRoom's Surprise Update

RaceRoom's Surprise Update Brings Epic Dual Track Racing!

Sim racers, have you checked your RaceRoom updates lately? A surprise email landed in the Simracing.GP inbox, revealing an exciting new addition that takes inspiration from classic motorsport showdowns. Among the usual tweaks and additions, one feature stood out: the Twin Forest Dual Track. Think Race of Champions-style racing, where two cars go head-to-head on mirrored circuits. This immediately caught my attention, and I had to jump in to see how it plays!

A Hidden Gem in Sim Racing

RaceRoom often flies under the radar in today’s sim racing world, where the buzz is dominated by Assetto Corsa Evo, Le Mans Ultimate, ACC, iRacing, and even Automobilista 2. But for those who know, RaceRoom has always had a dedicated following, and this update is a great reminder of why.

Beyond the new dual track, the update includes:

  • New drifting mode (I gave it a go… let’s just say I won’t be entering drift competitions anytime soon!)
  • Updated liveries for various cars
  • Macau circuit tweaks for improved racing

But let’s talk about the real star of the show: Twin Forest.

Twin Forest: The Ultimate Head-to-Head Challenge

The Twin Forest layout immediately reminded me of Race of Champions events, where drivers compete on identical yet mirrored circuits. It’s a format that brings something fresh and exciting to sim racing—pure one-on-one racing skill, where there’s no slipstreaming or divebombing, just you against the clock and your opponent.

To test the track, I jumped into:

  • KTM X-Bow – A lightweight car that feels right at home on this style of circuit
  • GT3 cars – Tight, heavy, and requiring full concentration
  • A ‘90s Formula 1 car – Because, why not?

Each provided a different kind of challenge, but one thing remained consistent—it’s seriously fun. The track layout is deceptively simple, but tight corners, elevation changes, and the constant mental battle against your rival make it an exhilarating experience. Even when I was two seconds off the AI’s pace, I found myself grinning the entire time.

Could We See Race of Champions-Style Events in Sim Racing?

This update got me thinking—could we finally see a true Race of Champions-style event in sim racing? The format is perfect for esports, and with RaceRoom providing this track, we now have the groundwork for it. We already know that the EROC (Esports Race of Champions) team is working on adapting their own sim platform for the real-world ROC event, but this might be an opportunity to bring something similar to RaceRoom right now.

Final Thoughts

This update came out of nowhere, but it’s a brilliant surprise. Whether you’re interested in drifting, racing at Macau, or tackling the Twin Forest Dual Track, there’s something for everyone.

I may have lost every race I attempted, but that didn’t take away from the sheer fun of it. If you haven’t fired up RaceRoom in a while, this update is a great reason to jump back in. Well done, RaceRoom—this one’s a winner.
