Which Sim Does GT3 Racing Best? Join the Debate!
Recently, Simracing.GP published a video on our YouTube channel titled "Which Sim Does GT3 Racing Best?" In it, we evaluated four popular racing simulators—Assetto Corsa (AC), Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC), iRacing, and Automobilista 2 (AMS2)—to determine which delivers the ultimate GT3 racing experience. The video was created before AMS2's 1.6 update, but that hasn’t stopped it from sparking lively discussions across the sim racing community.
Here’s a glimpse into the feedback we’ve received so far—and an invitation for you to join the conversation.
Our conclusion crowned Assetto Corsa as the go-to simulator for GT3 racing, particularly with its extensive modding capabilities. Many viewers agreed with this assessment, praising the incredible versatility that mods like the RSS GTM pack bring to the experience. Comments such as "AC is king, especially with the mods," and "Nothing beats it," were common themes.
Alpha Sim Racing noted, "AC still provides the best feeling," and echoed the idea that personal preference in a sim's "feel" is subjective. For many, the realism and immersion AC offers—even years after its release—remain unparalleled.
Not everyone agreed, however. A recurring critique was the exclusion of other popular sims, like rFactor 2 and Le Mans Ultimate. Many felt that these titles could have competed strongly with AC, particularly in physics and online racing experiences.
There were also strong opinions on the video’s approach. One user argued, "You should have included online multiplayer communities in the evaluation," highlighting the prominence of iRacing in this area. Others questioned the omission of AMS2’s 1.6 update, which some believe might have altered the outcome.
While mods were a celebrated aspect of AC for many, they also drew criticism. One commenter expressed frustration with the steep learning curve required to enjoy AC to its fullest: "By the time I get the mods working, I no longer feel like playing." Another added, "It takes hours or even weeks to bring AC up to modern standards." This divide underscores a key question: should ease of use outweigh the potential for customisation?
Several viewers noted the video’s technical shortcomings, such as image quality and frame rates, and suggested improvements for future reviews. Constructive feedback also proposed a more nuanced scoring system to evaluate the sims fairly across all dimensions, from driving physics to ease of access.
It’s clear that sim racing fans are deeply passionate and opinionated, which is why we’re eager to hear even more perspectives. Whether you’re a die-hard AC enthusiast, an iRacing loyalist, or an AMS2 defender, your voice matters.
We’d love for you to watch the video, join the discussion in the comments, and share your thoughts on which sim truly does GT3 racing best. Do you agree with our pick of AC, or would you have crowned another sim the winner? Let us know!
Watch the video above and let’s keep the debate alive. Don’t forget to leave your feedback and suggestions for future comparisons—we’re always looking to improve and explore new angles in the sim racing world.
